IMASUS Workshop Guide: Imagining the Textile Industry We Want

The IMASUS Workshop Guide is the facilitation guide for the workshop Imagining the Textile Industry We Want. It was written for the partner organisations that ran the workshop in three locations: Munkun in Zaragoza (Spain), Lottozero in Prato (Italy) and ECHN in Athens (Greece). It is published here so that any school, hub or collective can run the workshop with its own students.

The workshop uses Imagineering, a complexity-informed design methodology developed by Diane Nijs at Breda University of Applied Sciences. Instead of solving a problem in a straight line, participants co-design new realities from a shared vision and from what emerges while they work.

What is in the guide

  • The three-part knowledge base that participants work from.
  • Session 1, webinar (about 2 hours): the full facilitator script and supporting notes.
  • Session 2, in-person day (about 7 hours): a module-by-module facilitation guide.
  • Challenge cards: the full deck of industry challenges.
  • Outputs, documentation and adaptation notes for each partner.

Who it is for

The workshop was designed for about 20 vocational students per location, aged 18 to 25, with a background in textiles and fashion. The guide is a template: each partner adapts it to its local context, such as language, case studies and the physical materials available, while keeping the Imagineering structure intact.

The guide works together with the workshop worksheet, the workshop presentation and the challenge cards and posters prepared for the New European Bauhaus Festival.
