Sustainable fashion represents a systemic challenge where consumers, designers, producers, and distributors must transform how they collaborate and create value together. The IMASUS project builds on VET students excellence at developing technical solutions and aspire to expand their toolkit.
When complex systems require transformation, individual technical fixes reach their limits. Success emerges from enabling multiple stakeholders to co-create new approaches. Diane Nijs developed the Imagineering framework specifically for these scenarios. For example she used to transform a Belgian retail chain from near-bankruptcy to industry leadership or reshaping how an entire city government relates to its citizens.
Her framework forms the methodological foundation of IMASUS because it teaches students to facilitate systemic transformations through generative images and co-creation processes. Rather than simply applying predetermined solutions, students learn to catalyze emergence within complex systems.
We interviewed Diane to understand firsthand how this proven methodology works in practice and to discover real-world applications that make Imagineering such a powerful tool for addressing the interconnected challenges of sustainable fashion.
